We love Furniture Clean and Prep. We truly believe its the best cleaner available. You simply spray it on, evenly disperse it by using a brush or rag, then let set 15-30 mins. Wipe down with a clean, wet rag. Repeat only for nasty, really caked on, old pieces. This cleaner will take all the years of waxes, oils and dirt off as it drips down. That being said, you will want to be sure to have a tarp below. It doesn't have a strong odor. Its actually a very mild odor. Wear gloves and safety glasses to be safe.
Added benefit - Use with a magic eraser to clean your chalkboards. Spray, let sit and then wipe/scrub with the eraser to remove the ghosted chalk.
